Samuel Barclay Beckett (13 April 1906 – 22 December 1989) was an Irish dramatist, novelist and poet. Waiting for Godot (French: En attendant Godot), subtitled A Tragicomedy in Two Acts, is an absurdist play by Samuel Beckett, written in the late 1940s and first published in 1952.
